Elizabeth Hurley's Green Wedding!

We love creating our own idea of what celebrities will do to green their weddings! We heard through the grapevine that Estee Lauder Model & Gossip Girl star Elizabeth Hurley is happily engaged to Shane Warne, former international Australian cricket player. They have plans to get married in Liz's beloved Great Britain and his homeland Australia next year. Because they are so close to their families, they want to make sure everyone gets to share in their special day. Hopefully, this couple will choose to offset their carbon emissions by planting trees or traveling mainly by foot during their honeymoon.

Elizabeth and Shane, Simple Elegant

The Venue:

Oakley Hall Park, Destination Basingstoke

I was definitely tempted to look for venues in both Britain and Australia but I decided to splurge and kept my eyes on the prize! Elizabeth and Shane are big on family and friends and thats one of the main reasons they are hosting in 2 seperate locations. For Elizabeth's Brit venue we found the perfect setting and backdrop in her hometown of Basingstoke, Hampshire. According to their wedding brochure and info page, Oakley Hall was built in 1795, and has a distinguished past for such a distinguished couple. Formerly owned by the Bramston family, close friends of Jane Austen, it is mentioned fondly in Austen's letters to her sister Cassandra at the turn of the 19th Century. The character "Lady Bertram"was based on Mrs. Bramston who herself thought that Sense & Sensibility and Pride & Prejudice were nonsense. Ironically, she liked Mansfield Park ! How cool....

The Flowers:

Bridal Bouquet, Simply Blue Weddings

Elizabeth's favorite color is purple. We envision bold and unique statement florals for her bouquet. We will include Australian Ferns, Fiddleheads, late summer succulents with seeded eucalyptus and purple orchids to create a rustic green bouquet with tons of texture, warmth and color.

The Dress:

Juniper (Tree) Dress by Adele Wechsler, Polyvore

This floor length, Bateau neckline and Trumpet silhouette screams stunning. We love the Juniper (Tree) by Eco-Designer Adele Wechsler. This gown features two-toned embroidered flowers with blossoms and buds on the yoke and sleeve. It's 100% vegetable dyed silk ...watch out!

The Food:

Mushroom Soup, Martha Stewart Weddings

Did you know that Elizabeth has her own organic food line with Harrods? This super healthy snack line is straight from Elizabeth's garden. Elizabeth doesn't like fried food or anything fizzy, so we found more hometown love! Located in Basingstoke, we've uncovered what may be one of their hidden secrets...Dayer`s Fine Foods! This was established by brothers Simon and Chris and Dawn Valler in 2001. All three share the same simple philosophy of wanting to produce fresh products made from sustainable ingredients. All I can think about is food after peeking at their Platinum menu. It's full of fresh products, ample vegetarian choices, and eclectic pairings. We're drooling over the Wild Mushroom Soup sip and Smoked Salmon Parcels stuffed with crab mousse and accompanied with oat cakes and a rocket parmesan & toasted pine nut salad.

The Dessert:

Blueberry sorbet with riesling and rosemary, Everybody Likes Sandwiches

For Elizabeth's dream green wedding she can stray from her strict diet for a sweet and savory treat that she won't regret the next day: blueberry sorbet with riesling and rosemary.

The Favors:

Vintage cricket set, Antique's Atlas

As most of us know, Shane is, well...THE man in Australian Cricket. How fun would it be to add his edge by supplying guests with their very own vintage cricket sets to play on the grounds at Oakley Hall? After the match the guests can take them home to enoy. I'm up for a favor that fabulous anyday!
