Recycled Bridal Style

Ah, the wedding dress. Has there ever been a piece of attire more infused with sentimentality and love? A bride wants her gown to represent her personal style and bring out her best features on her wedding day. Unfortunately, most wedding gowns are made from unsustainable bleached materials, then dipped in chemicals after the wedding to take their traditional place...in the attic. Is this the best representative of a beautiful bride? Probably not.

The good news is that there are a number of eco-friendly options that will fulfill every bride's dream, and tread kindly on your wallet and the environment. Used wedding dresses are a fantastic option; nothing new has to be created, and the discounts on once worn gowns are deep, even though they are just like new.

Although many brides might balk at the mention of used wedding dresses, what could be sweeter than wearing a gown that already has the love and hope of another recently married couple attached to it? If you have a family dress available, that's even better. Wear it as is if it suits your style, or have it altered to your taste. In either case, you can pass the dress on to the next bride to continue it's history of beginning beautiful and sustainable marriages.

If you don't have a family gown, check out sites that give brides the capability to buy and sell used wedding dresses. One of our favorites is Recycled Bride. Brides can post their dresses for sale, or buy gowns on the site, at no charge. Here's just a peek of the variety of styles we found (and loved!) that are currently available on the site.
