Why We Love It

The Acacia tree, native to Asia, is prized for its rich golden brown lumber.  Acacia wood is great for serving pieces since its natural oils resist moisture.  This sustainably harvested wood has a diverse range of colors in its grain, revealed best by the type of carving and cut strokes used in making dinnerware.

Ethically Produced

Products made outside the US that have been handpicked from companies that employ fair wage and labor practices, as well as small-scale sustainable production methods. Profits from the sale of these products directly benefit the local artisanal communities where goods are made.

Handmade

Made or prepared by hand rather than by machine. Industrial manufacturing is a significant contributor to global warming and other pollution. The sale of handmade goods supports small-scale, independent artists and crafters who generally operate more sustainably than big businesses. Handmade items are skillfully crafted with detail, each one slightly varied.

Natural Material

Any material that comes from plants, animals, or minerals and is used without significant modification or processing. Natural materials include biotic materials, such as wood and natural fibers, and inorganic materials including stone, metal, and clay.   

Resource Conserving

Products that perform the same job as their traditional alternatives while using fewer resources. This can include energy or water efficient items that save on utilities such as CFL lightbulbs or low-flow shower heads.
