The use of fallen trees as a wood source decreases the demand for virgin wood. When trees are farmed to make these types of products, they are harvested at a relatively young age and do not have to compete for nutrients. This can make their rings wide and few. In contrast, pieces made from older fallen wood that has had time to mature are strong, with distinctive rings and wonderful intricacies that make each one unique.

Products made outside the US that have been handpicked from companies that employ fair wage and labor practices, as well as small-scale sustainable production methods. Profits from the sale of these products directly benefit the local artisanal communities where goods are made.

Natural Material

Any material that comes from plants, animals, or minerals and is used without significant modification or processing. Natural materials include biotic materials, such as wood and natural fibers, and inorganic materials including stone, metal, and clay.   

Recycled

Made from old materials that have been collected, sorted and processed into raw material. The recycling stream uses what would otherwise become waste to make new products, reducing the consumption of virgin resources and the pollution generated with waste disposal.
