Why We Love It

Conventional cotton is one of the most heavily treated crops grown in the world, and can account for up to 50% of total pesticide use in developing countries. Though organic cotton is available, it still only accounts for .2% of the cotton produced worldwide. In truth, the way cotton is grown contributes largely to the health and sustainability of the farms and farmers who produce it. Buying organic ensures the production of your cotton goods has had a positive impact on the planet.

Ethically Produced

Products made outside the US that have been handpicked from companies that employ fair wage and labor practices, as well as small-scale sustainable production methods. Profits from the sale of these products directly benefit the local artisanal communities where goods are made.

Natural Material

Any material that comes from plants, animals, or minerals and is used without significant modification or processing. Natural materials include biotic materials, such as wood and natural fibers, and inorganic materials including stone, metal, and clay.   

GOTS

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certifies textiles that are free of harmful chemicals. It offers lifecycle analysis, and guarantees that no toxic chemicals are used from the time of harvest through manufacturing, that waste is disposed of responsibly, and that fair labor practices are enforced.

Oeko Tex

The Oeko-Tex® Standard 100, developed by a group of European textile institutes, is a global testing and accreditation program for the screening of harmful substances in consumer textiles. Since its inception in 1992, Oeko-Tex has come to be recognized as the leader in eco-labeling, with over 36,000 certificates issued to more than 5,000 manufacturers and over 1 million licensed products.
