Real Green Weddings
Molly Kidwell and Ian Grasso were married on October 10, 2009 in Annapolis, Maryland.
About the Couple
Molly, an information technology sales rep, and Ian, a Naval officer and medical student, met on e-harmony. The bride confesses, “It's something both of us were bashful to admit at first, but since it worked out so well, we don’t mind sharing that!” The bride and groom's first date included sushi and plate painting. There was an instant connection and Molly and Ian went out for beers after dinner just to keep the date going longer.
The couple is very passionate about animal rescue, and they own two rescue dogs. They currently reside in Annapolis, Maryland, right on the bay.
The Decision to go Green
Living on the bay had a big impact on the couple’s decision to go green. The bride explains, “It looks absolutely gorgeous from afar, but walking on the beaches we were always picking up litter and never felt like we wanted to go in the water much deeper than our knees.” Having their reception in the Merrill Center, a platinum LEED building that works with the Save the Bay Foundation, really inspired the couple to make green choices. In addition, the bride says, “It was fun to find ways to incorporate green choices into our wedding – a lot of the things we did also ended up saving us money!”
