Real Green Weddings
Dana LaRue (aka The Broke-Ass Bride) and Hunter Stiebel were married on May 24, 2009 in Hollywood, CA.
About the Couple
Dana and Hunter met in Milwaukee, WI in 2002, while they were both taking part in a season-long acting internship at the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre. Hunter was fresh out of school in Dallas with a BFA, and Dana was a grad student looking for an internship other than the "usual" placements her school offered in Cincinnati. They became two of just twelve interns accepted into their program. A few months passed before Dana began to "feel her heartstrings tickling" with what seemed like the beginnings of a new and exciting crush. After boldly arranging for the two to spend a day together, Dana knew Hunter was the real deal. Looking back on her choice to break the mold and move to Milwaukee she reflects, "I was really brought to the land of beer and cheese to meet my soul mate."
The Decision to Go Green
Dana and Hunter wished to include a commitment to the earth as well as a commitment to each other in their wedding, and being green was just a piece of that. "We try to approach everything with an eco-conscious mindset, but the wedding was especially important because weddings are easily a very wasteful experience- so many resources going into just one day of your life," says the bride. During their ceremony, the couple recognized their wishes to be more responsible citizens of the earth, and made a vow to the environment as a symbol of that joint undertaking.
