Real Green Weddings
Colleen and Jason were married on May 9, 2009 in Brooklyn, New York.
About the Couple
On November 4, 2007, Jason’s good friend Carolyn sent him a fateful Facebook message: "I have a really great, tall, and gorgeous gal I'd love to introduce you to. C'mon, I've cleared it with Eric (one of the Jason's best friends from college) and he agrees it's a good idea! Lemme know. Perhaps we can meet her for a drink on Friday the 9th..."
Jason met Colleen on Friday, November 9th, 2007. The two talked for hours, and ended their night with two chocolate old-fashioned doughnuts. On May 9th, 2009, exactly eighteen months after that first blind date, they celebrated their marriage. The rest is doughnut history.
Jason is the Founder of a healthy and green living site, MindBodyGreen.com and Colleen writes for the site, as well.
Decision to Go Green
Colleen and Jason were not interested in a lot of traditional wedding elements that did not fit their lifestyle and seemed unnecessary from a time, money, and sustainability standpoint. Their goal was to throw a party that was truly reflective of their style and taste, which Jason likes to call "urban eco-minimalist chic."
