Real Green Weddings
Patti Lew and Ben Wilkinson were married on April 26, 2008 at Nestldown in the Santa Cruz Mountains.
About The Couple:
Patti and Ben met through a mutual friend who correctly thought they'd be perfect for each other. Four years after their first meeting, they were engaged.
The groom is self-employed through his own marketing and brand strategy consulting firm, Blocshop. He also has a background in graphic design, which helped with elements of the wedding such as the save-the-date email, invitations, and favor-labels.
The bride is a writer for Examiner.com as the San Francisco Green Weddings Examiner. The inspiration for this came from the planning of her own wedding, when she found she had no idea where to turn for eco-friendly ideas. Within her column, Greener Ever After, she aims to share “creative, simple and realistic [green] ideas that you can naturally incorporate into your wedding.”
Decision to Go Green:
The groom tells us going green “felt like the responsible thing to do." After having recently gained more of an environmental consciousness, the couple wanted to incorporate green elements into their wedding to feel good about their celebration. They took to heart that they had the power to choose the kind of impact their day would have on the environment.
