In order to create the right type of space on the farm, Anna and Chris started from the ground up, working side by side with their friends who owned the farm at which the wedding was to be held. They tilled the field where the ceremony took place, irrigated it, and planted grass and flowers that the cows and chickens could later eat.
They pulled out a 100-year-old brick patio and enlarged it using the old bricks, as well as some new ones.
Chris, Anna, and their hosts built fences to corral the chickens, and constructed walking paths throughout the space where the celebration would be held. They even ripped off and replaced the farmhouse's old siding.
In the end, Anna and Chris felt like their blood, sweat, and tears were part of the earth they would get married on, which was especially meaningful to them. Their gracious friends ended up with some amazing home improvements as well.
