In an effort to reduce carbon emissions, the ceremony and reception were both held on the farm. Guests were shuttled to the farm from the hotel they were staying at nearby and the bride rode from the guest cottage to the ceremony site in her own Prius. The guest cottage, complete with eco friendly walls, insulation made from recycled denim, energy saving appliances and low flow toilets, also served as a place for Cary, James and some of their closest friends to stay after the wedding.
What emissions that the couple could not reduce or eliminate, they offset. Using Carbon Fund, Cary and James offset the estimated 8.7 tons of carbon dioxide that their wedding produced.
