The couple used Flourish, an eco-florist in Ontario who is dedicated to using ecologically and socially conscious flowers. To focus on the natural beauty of their flowers, chemicals, sprays and floral foams were avoided and attention to the natural beauty of the flowers was emphasized. Seasonal fall bouquets were designed with reds, creams, and the occasional stick of berries.
Deanna and Dave chose to use fallen birch tree branches instead of traditional flower arrangements to decorate the tables for a cozy and rustic look. The branches were taken from fallen trees in the couple’s yard and were embellished with Bodhi skeleton leaves. Cast iron Buddha statues were placed underneath the branches represent the Bodhi tree for which their son was named after.
The couple thoughtfully decorated the room with reusable items. They used left over hemp canvas to embroider flags with the Bodhi leaf that they plan on using for birthdays and other special celebrations. The tea light holders which were placed around the reception are now making their way around the family and have been used at three other weddings.
