Real Green Weddings
The first green choice the couple made was moving their wedding location from their home in British Columbia to Ontario where most of their guests live. This helped to significantly decrease the wedding’s carbon footprint by eliminating the need for a majority of their guests to travel.
The ceremony was held at Port Cunnington Lodge and Resort in Muskoka, Ontario beneath the brightly colored leaves of fall. While Deanna and Dave are not technically Buddhists, it was important to them to incorporate some of the Buddhist traditions that they hold close to their hearts. Deanna and Dave exchanged vows in the center of a circle formed by their friends and family, with four aisles on the outskirts. The groomsmen and bridesmaids stood at four seperate corners to represent four sacred directions.
The sun had been blazing all around them all day, but right as Deanna began to walk toward her groom, it began to rain. The rain stopped half way through the ceremony and the sun shone on the newlyweds for the next nine days.
