Real Green Weddings
Khyati and Jordan made many choices for their wedding that helped reduce the waste that often results from such big events. They made sure to use recycled and eco-friendly paper for their invitations, programs, ceremony fans, welcome bag letters, etc. The couple also used a wedding website to cut down on the usage of paper.
Because their wedding was a multi-day event, the bride and groom used a single location for all the festivities in order to minimize driving. They also arranged carpools and a shuttle for guests coming from the airport or hotels.
For those guests who came early or stayed late, Khyati and Jordan provided eco-friendly dinnerware and cups to reduce waste as well. Their wedding favors included plantable bookmarks with their names and wedding date.
Khyati’s family even pitched in their own green aspects to the wedding: her mom used eco-friendly welcome bags for their guests, and her sister made a nature-inspired ring holder for the ceremony.
The registry the couple used was ourwishingwell.com, which allowed them to request donations to their favorite charities and gifts for future use rather than use wasteful packaging.
