Real Green Weddings
In traditional Indian weddings, the groom arrives in a horse and carriage. The couple agreed that a horse probably would not enjoy sitting in a parking lot while decorated with ornaments, so they forewent this tradition. They also did not use a limo; instead they used a relative's vehicle, decorated to make it unique for their special day.
Instead of flying to India to pick out her wedding and reception dresses and jewelry, Arti did everything virtually with a local designer. Many popular dress companies will now e-mail images to brides to avoid the unnecessary flight. Her mother and sister also shopped virtually for their wedding attire. This was both eco-friendly and cost-effective.
