The bride calls her DIY centerpieces "a recycled work of art! I collected old wine bottles of various sizes and colors for months.” These were filled with local papyrus sedge, lemongrass from the bride's backyard garden, and some cut flowers from Watanabe Floral. Old baby food jars were used as votive holders for organic candles, and after the wedding, all the bottles and jars went into the recycling bin.
For the tableware, the couple used all compostable plates, cups, and flatware. The plates were made of sugarcane, the cups and forks were made of corn, and the napkins were 7th Generation, made from post consumer product. These were all provided by local supplier Styrophobia, a company committed to ridding Hawaii of Styrofoam takeout boxes.
