Real Green Weddings
The couple hired flower designer Lynn Mehl of Good Old Days Florist for the event. Her business uses only flowers grown in season, organically, and by companies that promote fair labor practices on their flower farms. Aaron and Arden even got a discount for providing their own vases, a melange of shapes and sizes that Arden gathered from thrift stores. The vases were donated right back to the shops after the wedding, and the flowers were composted in Arden's family's backyard.
Except for a single bouquet of flowers left over from their rehearsal dinner, there were no formal decorations at the ceremony. All the charm and beauty was in the setting: the ceremony took place on the steps of the historic house, with lush gardens and growth all around, and the Hudson River in sight.
