Doug and Alyson don't consider themselves a traditional couple, so they did not have a garter toss, flower toss, or cake cutting ceremony. In fact, they didn't purchase a wedding cake at all. Instead, they bought fourteen freshly made pies from a great local fruit stand. In addition, Doug's mom made a Kahlua cake, while Alyson’s mom made brigadeiros, a Brazilian treat, as a nod to her birthplace of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The dessert table was completed with chocolate covered strawberries, and cookies and biscotti made by a friend.
