For the reception, the couple planned a laid back picnic. Instead of sitting at tables, guests lounged on picnic blankets or at tables under the pavilion. All of the food was local. Dishes included salmon, quinoa salad, goat cheese and strawberry salad, a potato dish, tofu and vegetable skewers, and ice cream for dessert.
Instead of renting dishes, the couple bought bamboo plates and gave their guests silverware made from corn-based plastic. "The park didn't recycle, but we put up our own recycling, composted the dishes, and washed the plates."
