Real Green Weddings
Instead of a wedding cake, the bride and a couple other friends made fruit pies. The fruit was sourced locally from either family and friend's backyards or their local farmer's market.
They also covered all the trash receptacles and diverted people to recycle bins instead. All recyclables were collected and sorted and in the end, only one very small (grocery bag sized) amount of trash was thrown away!
All dishes and remaining decorations will be kept and made available for other brides in the Portland area as part of a wedding goods library (free of charge!). The bride is starting the cause to help encourage repurposing, recycling, and reuse of bridal goods.
