For the reception décor, the bride made sure not to let anything go to waste. With a little help from friends and family, the bride borrowed items and ideas to create an eclectic black and white look. Table centerpieces consisted of potted plants, which were lovingly arranged by Jill’s aunt, Rita Paul. Guests were asked to take them home to plant in their own gardens. For a decorative accent, the couple purchased fake tree branches and dressed them up with crystals. White lights were placed in colorful bottles to set a romantic mood.
Jill and her relatives found it a welcome and fun challenge to be creative in pooling together resources. For example, the silverware was borrowed from the church as well as family members. Cloth napkins were cut from repurposed fabric and guests were encouraged to take them home as an alternative to disposable napkins and paper towels. Jill used the leftover fabric to make pillows for her home.
