Real Green Weddings
Lily & Tyler were married on July 3 in New York.
Lily is a consultant who helps people organize their homes, offices, and lives and provides tips and advice on how to live more sustainably. Tyler works as a community organizer. The couple met in 2003 over a copy machine at college when Lily was a first-year and Tyler was a senior. (Tyler offered Lily his copy card - displaying true modern day chivalry).
The Decision to Go Green As Lily reports, "I began recycling at the tender age of three, and Tyler has long been a peaceful activist regarding environmental issues. It seemed natural (no pun intended) for our wedding to include this aspect of our values." As the couple wrote on their website, "Our commitment to building a less wasteful and more compassionate world has influenced our decision to make our wedding as environmentally and socially responsible as we can."
A Green Wedding Planner A few months before the wedding, Lily was busy finishing up graduate school. She decided to hire New York green event planner Danielle Venokur of dvGreen to help make their vision a reality. Danielle, who contributed to The Green Bride Guide and was recently featured in Modern Bride," truly worked miracles and made this magnificent eco-chic event less stressful and more fun."
Biodegradable Umbrella
Lily and Tyler entered the tent under the cover of a biodegradable Brelli (made from corn plastic and bamboo) - pictured here.
