Real Green Weddings
Kelly and Natalie Prizel were married on September 21, 2008 in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
About the Couple
Kelly, who owns a wedding photography business and runs the site So You're EnGAYged, and Natalie, a PhD student at Yale in the English Department, met online when they were 17. The couple went out for s'mores and found an instant comfort and connection within one other. Two years and two proms later, the couple bought engagement rings in Massachusetts the week the state had legalized gay marriage. Feeling too young at the time, Kelly and Natalie waited a few more years before they started planning their wedding. The couple currently resides in New Haven, Connecticut.
The Decision to Go Green
Kelly and Natalie are both animal lovers and were already living a lifestyle that incorporates cruelty free animal products. It was their rabbi, an environmentalist and LGBT advocate, who reminded them to not only use cruelty free products, but to think about minimizing their wedding's impact on the earth. This guidance made for an unforgettable green wedding.
