Krista and Tim, both emergency department nurses internationally and locally, met while Krista was in school completing her rotations at UCSF. Tim was one of the attending nurses that she met. She admired his skill, compassion and extensive knowledge, and the two began a close friendship. Eventually, that friendship turned into something deeper.

When this couple (who prefer to remain anonymous) got engaged, they sent around an e-mail announcement to friends and family. By making the card with Photoshop and e-mailing it, they were able to tell all of their friends and family at once, while saving paper and postage.

About the Couple:
Amy and Mark met the summer of 2003 at a pool party thrown by Mark's brother, and it was love at first sight. Both very active people, they got to know each other through hiking, backpacking, motorcycle rides, going to the beach, kayaking, outdoor events, and “anything else we could come up with that brought us into the outside world,†the bride tells us. At the time they met, both were finishing up college degrees, so they took advantage of any free time they had on the weekends.

The Decision to Go Green
Rachel and Will, who met in college eight years ago, were committed to minimizing the footprint of their wedding while still sharing a wonderful celebration with friends and family. The bride explained that wedding planning is "essentially a series of product choices," and she and her fiance wanted to ensure that their choices made the least impact, from the rings to the food served.

About the Couple
Cory and Nathalie met in 2004 through mutual friends while they were both students at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Nathalie, a graphic designer, and Cory, a painter, fell in love almost immediately. As Nathalie tells us, after that, they were “together for so long, everyone always joked that we were practically married anyway and that we should just make it official...and so we did!â€

Anikka and Mel were married on May 4th in San Diego, CA.
Anikka and Mel were married at the Prado, a historic building in San Diego. "Since we had guests traveling as far as Europe and the Philippines, we wanted it to be very 'San Diego,' totally us, and, of course, a great party. We chose the Prado because of its great award winning food and service, and because it was in the beautiful Balboa Park."

Joann and Chris were married in Napa, California in September 2007.
Both Joann and Chris are designers (he is an industrial designer, and she is a graphic designer) and they met at a branding consultancy in Oakland. Joann describes her husband as "a down to earth, laid-back kind of guy from Australia" and herself as "a more intense, punctual city girl from Hong Kong."
Joann included many DIY elements in the event. "I always wanted to plan my own wedding, so we did not hire a wedding planner, and we were eager to do as much as possible ourselves."

Christine Mentink and Greg Diedrich were married July, 26 2008 in Des Plaines, IL.
Christine is a managing editor at a nonprofit medical society where she leads "the Green Team," getting co-workers to "recycle everything from paper to batteries and cell phones." Greg is a bicycle fanatic. "He builds them, teaches others how to maintain theirs, and constantly promotes bike riding and less car driving. In fact, he doesn't own a car and bikes year round through Chicago rain and winters!" In addition to being a bike enthusiast, Greg is also a graphic designer.
